AFREC Strengthens Senegal’s Capacity on Methane Mitigation in the Oil and Gas Sector

The African Energy Commission of the African Union (AFREC) successfully convened a Level 1 Training on Methane Emission Mitigation in the Oil and Gas Sector in Dakar, Senegal, from 27–28 January 2026, a major step towards supporting decarbonisation of Africa’s energy sector.

The training, hosted in collaboration with the government of Senegal, forms part of AFREC’s broader Project on Methane Emissions Management and Capacity Building in the African Oil and Gas Sector.
