Overview
La Commission africaine de l'énergie de l'Union africaine et ses partenaires, en collaboration avec les Centres régionaux pour les énergies renouvelables et l'efficacité énergétique, ont présenté la première Conférence africaine sur l'efficacité énergétique (AfEEC). L'AfEEC s'est tenue en République fédérale démocratique d'Éthiopie, sous l'égide du siège de la Commission de l'Union africaine, à Addis-Abeba, les 10 et 11 décembre 2025.
Cet événement a réuni les ministres de l'Énergie des États membres de l'Union africaine ainsi que des représentants de haut niveau des partenaires au développement, des entreprises, des ONG, des instituts de recherche et d'autres acteurs clés. Il a été précédé de formations préalables comprenant des réunions de partenaires et des ateliers d'experts sur divers thèmes.
L'AfEEC a été organisée dans le cadre de l'Alliance africaine pour l'efficacité énergétique (AfEEA), une plateforme de collaboration adoptée par les chefs d'État et de gouvernement africains lors de la 46e session ordinaire du Conseil exécutif. L’AfEEA réunit les acteurs mondiaux afin de promouvoir le partage des connaissances et des expériences, de renforcer le plaidoyer et la sensibilisation, de soutenir la recherche et le développement, de faciliter le transfert de technologies et de mobiliser des financements et des investissements pour les programmes d’efficacité énergétique en Afrique.
La conférence inaugurale a offert une occasion unique et sans précédent de faire le point sur les progrès accomplis par les États membres africains vers l’objectif continental d’accroître la productivité énergétique de 50 % d’ici 2050 et de 70 % d’ici 2063. Cet objectif s’inscrit dans le cadre de l’engagement de l’Afrique à respecter la promesse mondiale prise lors de la COP28 de doubler les améliorations en matière d’efficacité énergétique et de tripler la part des énergies renouvelables d’ici 2030.
